Helping Athletes and Performers Succeed
I am passionate about helping athletes and high performers.
I myself was a Canadian national team athlete and sport has always been a part of my life. My training and clinical experience has allowed me to work with athletes of all levels, including those on the World and Olympic stage, and creative minds in music and performing arts. The blend of my own experience in high-pressure, performance-based sport and my clinical training gives me an intimate understanding of the mindset that it takes to succeed in these high-pressure arenas.
I've seen first hand how mental health problems are stigmatized for high-performers. Shame and impossible standards to "have it all together" prevent many people from getting the help they need. I believe everyone deserves to be given the supports they need in order to perform their best.
As Victoria Garrick, a wise athlete advocate, put it, many athletes are competing against a "hidden opponent" for most of their career (and beyond). Mental health needs to be considered in the long-term development plan for all athletes.
I hope to continue advocating for this in the years to come because, as my coach and friend Lauren Brett says:
Shame does not win medals.

How I can Help
I help high performers of all types learn to cope with the pressures of their careers. You will learn how to keep your mood, anxiety, perfectionism and eating in check so that you can focus on what's important and perform at your best. In our work, we will collaborate to face your fears and train the mind using a variety of skills from sport & performance psychology, CBT and Mindfulness.
Check out the TREATMENT and FAQ pages for more information on my approach generally, or CONNECT with me to see how we can uniquely address your needs. |
